The North Main - North Gay Streets Historic District was added to the National Register in March of 1990.  Many of the buildings within this district date between 1820 and 1925, and the streets are beautifully lined by large shade trees, and many of the streets are paved with brick.  Some of the architectural styles that are featured include Greek Revival, Italianate, Gothic Revival, Second Empire, Queen Anne, and Colonial Revival.  Some of the secondary structures, such as carriage houses, have been converted to house modern cars instead of horses and carriages.
