Local carriage painter Samuel Sanderson built this home around 1865. Sanderson also served some time on the Mount Vernon City Council. The Italianate architecture features a hip roof, with simple brackets supporting the cornice, and a double-door entry with leaded glass. The windows are surrounded by simple wood hoodmolds.
